Love Care Sculptor - massager with dispenser

Love Care Sculptor - Gua sha device with oil dispenser

The Love Care Sculptor revolutionizes the facial massage experience by integrating seamless oil dispensing into its design. This innovative device originated from critical insights during our personal facial massage sessions, where we identified the opportunity to merge oil application and massage for enhanced user enjoyment.
After an intensive development process, we transformed this idea into a working prototype. The Love Care Sculptor is the embodiment of our vision, uniting oil dispensing with the massage process for an elevated and cohesive user experience.

Our dynamic team comprises three key roles: a research & development engineer, an industrial designer, and a salesperson. The engineer is responsible for the functionality and technology aspects, while the salesperson focuses on market trends and client needs. The industrial designer acts as a bridge between the two, aiming to meld both perspectives by leveraging design thinking and leading the project’s direction.

Before starting our design process, we took a step back to delve into the concept of "Beauty." This exploration spanned numerous aspects, including societal perceptions of beauty and the typical environments for beauty treatments. This reflective phase provided us with profound insights that became instrumental in shaping our design journey.
In alignment with current trends and modern lifestyles, we conducted thorough research to understand prevailing themes. Through this process, we identified an increasing focus on facial massage as a key area of interest. Consequently, we strategically centered our product development efforts on this burgeoning trend.

Through our research on facial massage techniques and personal experimentation, we've gained significant insight. We found that people often apply massage oil before or during their skincare routine to reduce friction. This practice not only makes the experience smoother but also decreases the chance of wrinkle formation due to excessive rubbing. Additionally, massage can improve the absorption of serums, thereby enhancing the benefits of skincare routines.
In the quest to improve the dispensing of massage oil, the Gizmo team explored various methods such as rolling balls, mist sprayers, squeezers, etc. To enhance comfort, we tested different shapes and handheld designs that conform to the curves of the hand and face. The Gizmo R&D team also investigated several mechanical structures of dispensers and devised a solution utilizing a specific 'vacuum container.' Moreover, we disassembled benchmarks to examine the electronic components and specifications.

Throughout the prototype phase, we meticulously refined the design, focusing on the shape, color, material, and finish (CMF) of each component. Concurrently, we evaluated the feasibility of mass production, taking into account factors like manufacturing processes and cost-effectiveness. This phase was a pivotal step in transforming our concept into a tangible product poised for market launch.

In developing our design, we noted a frequent oversight concerning the harmony between massage devices and their environment. To achieve seamless integration, we found inspiration in the contours of cosmetic bottles and wove their shapes into our design philosophy. Furthermore, we introduced understated patterns to convey a sense of finesse and grace, enhancing the design’s aesthetic allure.

We have rethought the shape to ensure it fits seamlessly into everyday settings. The flat bottom is engineered not only to stand stably on a desk among cosmetics but also to enhance the product's hygiene.

The standout feature of this gua sha device is that users don't need to apply massage oil beforehand. Instead, they simply refill the container inside as needed, and the device dispenses oil during the massage with a press of the massage head.

To prevent the continuous leakage of oil, turn the device to the 'LOCK' position, which secures the massage tip and stops it from dispensing.
